About Us

Nutrition is the science that interprets the interaction of nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of human. A poor nutrition and diet can cause deficiency diseases such as anemia; health-threatening conditions like obesity and cancer; and chronic systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. As a result, nutrition science is considered as one of the important basic and clinical sciences in the field of medicine and has an independent department and even faculty in prestigious medical universities.

The department of nutrition is one of twenty sixth departments in the school of medicine. The nutrition department of Kashan University of Medical Sciences established in 2011.  The department is active in two sections: education and research. In education section, the department trains undergraduate students in all faculties of KAUMS including: medicine, dentistry, hygiene, nursing and midwifery, and also post-graduate students in nutrition science. Investigations are done in Research Center for Biochemistry and Nutrition in Metabolic Diseases (RCBNMD) managed by academic members of both the nutrition department and biochemistry department.


The group tries to predict the needs and takes steps to achieve them. The members of the group, in an intimate atmosphere with proper planning, will continuously improve the quality of their science and services and will be considered to be responsible for the university's people and authorities.

The educational facilities of the department include the clinical nutrition center located in the Shahid Beheshti Hospital and equipped with anthropometric devices such as bioelectric impedance analyzer (Body Analyzer). The nutrition department has 3 labs: food chemistry lab;  food microbiology lab; the labroratory of research center for biochemistry and nutrition in metabolic diseases
