About Us
Stem cells are biological cells in multicellular organisms that both differentiate into other types of cells and divide to produce more of the same type of stem cells. Mammals have two broad types of stem cells: embryonic and adult stem cells. In adult organisms, stem cells and progenitor cells act as a repair system for the body, replenishing adult tissues. Stem cell therapies are a type of cell therapy in which the cells used are either stem cells (as in the case of bone marrow transplantation) or are derived from stem cells, as is this case with some stem cell therapies that are currently being investigated for their therapeutic potential in areas such as regenerative medicine.
The department of applied cell sciences seeks a leadership role in applied cell sciences, in stem cell therapy and in regenerative medicine, through developing innovative, multidisciplinary collaborative approaches. It is an emerging field that aims at the regeneration of natural tissues using biological cells, biomaterials, biotechnology, and clinical medicine. Training future leaders for education, research and clinical studies using cells specially stem cells is our main goal. Our mission is to accelerate the promise of regenerative medicine by exploring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, which does not seem a very far-fetched idea and we presume a leading role for ourselves in the region in coming decades. The department of applied cell sciences was established in 2010 at Kashan University of Medical Sciences and multi-disciplinary investigations are conducted in a broad range of the different scientific fields.
Mission
- To conduct research and provide expert consulting services related to the applied cell sciences
- To accelerate the promise of regenerative medicine by exploring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, which does not seem a very far-fetched idea and we presume a leading role for ourselves in the region in the coming decades
- To train committed, knowledgeable, competent graduates in stem cell and stem cell therapy
- To research, design, implement and evaluate basic and applied researches in various related areas
Vision
